School Improvement Project

State Goal

To support efforts within Minnesota’s RCEs for effective school improvement and turnaround in identified schools with priority, focus, and continuous improvement designations. Specific state targets are reducing the achievement gaps between all groups of students by 50 percent from 2011 to 2017 and increasing graduation rates to 90 percent.

Background

Through this continuing project, MWCC will build on the capacity to implement a comprehensive program evaluation and reporting in Year 4 by assisting MDE in its support of efforts within Minnesota’s RCEs for effective school improvement and turnaround in identified schools with priority, focus, and continuous improvement designations.

Activities
  • MDE will develop a list of clear roles and best practices for district-level activities that lead to school improvement and turnaround, and MDE-level activities that support districts.
  • MDE will design MDE processes and practices to support district-level activities that lead to school improvement and turnaround.
  • MDE will plan and facilitate activities to communicate and disseminate self-assessment tools and resources.
  • MDE will plan and facilitate professional development modules and technical assistance activities for RCE staff.
