In recent weeks, there has been a flurry of immigration reform news. Both chambers are now consulting with key House lawmakers and the White House on how to make sweeping changes to immigration policy. But it is unclear how much progress has been made. A new proposal, called S. 2455, will be introduced in the House in early May. It would grant millions of immigrants legal status, but it is not yet clear how many will actually qualify.

However, there is still much more work to do. The House passed an immigration bill this month that would offer a reprieve from deportation to more than 700,000 immigrants. The plan also offers protection from deportation to some undocumented immigrants and addresses the issue of chronic visa backlogs. And it is not just the Senate that will be working on immigration reform. It is also a bipartisan effort that could be implemented in the federal government.

Another piece of immigration reform news recently broke. Congress’s Democratic leadership is evaluating the next steps for the tax package, and focusing on voting rights legislation. The fate of these provisions is unclear at this point, but there are some glimmers. While a few key lawmakers have expressed their desire to protect the rights of immigrants, they have not yet offered a preferred path. As of yet, it remains unclear where the Senate will stand on immigration reform. An immigration lawyer can give you more updates regarding this topic.

The latest immigration reform news is encouraging for immigrants. The House-passed bill would offer temporary work authorization and parole status to some undocumented immigrants. It would also address the long-standing problem of visa backlogs. But for now, it remains unclear whether this legislation will pass. As of now, there are many things to watch for. But for now, the most important thing is to wait and see. If you want to have a brighter future, make sure to stay on top of the immigration debate and get involved!
